Normalizing Heated Metals

Pittsburgh Metal Processing Co offers a variety of heat treatments of metals at highly competitive prices. One of these methods is normalizing. Normalizing is generally applied to ferrous materials to enhance the mechanical properties of the material by refining the microstructure.

This treatment will in some instances improve machinability and machine finish. It is sometimes used as a precursor to subsequent surface hardening to improve response to hardening or to provide a desirable base substrate hardness.
